Using NLP to Create Imagery in Hypnosis

Hypnosis and NLP technology combine in self hypnosis techniques use of imagery. All people process information using what is called Representational Systems. Once receiving data through the five sense (seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling) and self-talk (our internal dialogue), people translate the external information into an internal representation of their reality. The four primary Representational Systems are: pictures, sounds, feelings and self-talk.

The Preferred Representational System is the one that the person tends to use more than the others to create their Internal Representation of the outside world. Even though one system may be more dominant than another, people usually utilize any or all of the Representational Systems. If one listens to the predicates that people use in their speech you get good clues as to their preferred representational system.

For instance, experiencing a piece of music would be mostly Auditory (A) but some people who are visual (V), may see vivid images while listening to the same music. On the other hand, the Kinesthetic (K) might really feel the same piece of music. Yet still, others may be focused on having running internal commentary about the experience of listening to the music. They would be considered Auditory Digital (AD).

There is the Visual(V) representation where the person creates and sees pictures. This can be represented by the phrase A picture is worth a thousand words.

Auditory (A) representation is where the person is driven by What sounds best to them. They are very in tune to sounds and tonation.

Kinesthetic (K) representation is where people experience feelings internally and externally. Often these people will describe having a gut feeling or being very sensitive to the feeling of how the their clothing feels on their body.

Auditory Digital (AD) representational people listen to self-talk free self hypnosis downloads They summarize and categorize their experience. They use words to delineate and make sense of things. They interpret incoming information concerning events and their meaning.

Every person will use their own preferred representational system when making up the images that work for them.

Help your client by asking questions to bring free self hypnosis downloads their own imagery and representation. Here are just some examples of the type of questions you might ask:

What image would relate to what you are experiencing?

What does this look like? Does it have a color, a shape, a consistency etc.?

What sound does it make?

Does it sound like any body?

Is it jagged or smooth?

Does it have weight?

Does it have a smell or odor?

What does it feel like or how does it make you feel?

Work the appropriate preferred representational system into your imagery. In hypnosis, when we can "light up" our clients imagery for them so it stimulates "their" representational system, the benefits of guided imagery can be realized.

So, Web 2.0, with all the extremes and cocaine parties on the backs of hookers as until the dot-com boom, right? The "view" is too recurrently... Not really. Mike Davidson set up Newsvine's digs with a view of Elliott Bay, a private deck for keggers, and a flag so fancy the blogosphere had a fit.
